I first wrote this article back in 2019, when our website was receiving 1-2 spam entries to our Contact Us form that integrates with our CRM. Spam submissions covered dating sites, bitcoin, SEO services, sending money overseas and everything in between (yep that too!).
We tried adding a hidden field, adding re-catpha, but it didn’t stop the spam L.
It wasn’t until a client came to us who was getting 8-10 entries per day, did we decided that it’s probably worthwhile testing out a spam stopping plugin.
The results are in….
Over the first 30 days, we had 58 spam entries automatically stopped to our own Contact Us page – YAAY!
But that’s not it…
Now, fast forward almost 4 years later when I’m updating this article, the solution has now….
Stopped 34,486 spammers/bots!
WOWSER!!!
The plugin that we use is called SpamKill.
What SpamKill does, is it identifies the entry is spam before the contact is entered into database, therefore only allowing real leads to get added to your database.
Check out our latest case study here and the interview I did with founder Mihir Dhandha from SpamKill in 2023.
As you can see from the video, we’ve experienced a number of positive results since using it, including:
- Spam/bot contacts are NOT being added to our database
- Contacts were not being sent an automated email acknowledging their enquiry (that may have impacted our email deliverability)
- We didn’t get a task notification to follow them up
- We didn’t need to manually review and delete a contact record from our database
- We don’t need to upgrade and pay for additional contacts to our database that are not real
- We’re not missing anyone and only receiving valid leads into our database
- We’re saving valuable time no longer reviewing dodgy contacts
I want to expand on the last point, just for a minute.
As flagged in the video above, let’s say once a spam entry did come in, I would drop what I was doing, review the task and contact record and then delete them. Let’s say it takes on average 15 seconds to do that. We have had 34,486 spam entries so far. The results are…
143 Hours Saved …. 😳
This is time that I’m no longer spending manually reviewing spammers/bots.
This is worth it, just for this win alone!
The awesome news too, that it doesn’t just work with Keap. It now works with Active Campaign, Ontraport, Mailchimp, AWeber, Kartra, Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, WordPress and more! Basically, any form that you’re getting the HTML code for, it will work with J

In case you might be interested, here’s the original case study video I did back one month after we went live in 2019. Please note the reporting functionality is different now as flagged in the first video of this article.
We only share products/tools that we have either used or a client has used and we know work, so if you’re receiving dodgy entries on your website forms, check out SpamKill here.
