We’ve had the fortunate pleasure over the years to help build out Membership sites for clients. This article showcases some client membership examples offering different programs, including free resources, one-off online courses and ongoing memberships/subscriptions. All focused on the common theme of being able to give your membership audience exclusive access to your gated membership content automatically. We’ve had clients who launched their program with less than 50 members, while others had more complex needs with thousands of ongoing subscribers.
The aim here is to give you some inspiration about what’s possible in your business.
So, let’s get stuck into some membership examples.
Personal Trainer Membership Example
4 Week Challenge
A Sunshine Coast based Personal Trainer was looking to reach a bigger audience to expand upon local in-person clients. She decided to launch a nutrition-based program for weight loss. Clients from around the world could purchase the one-time fee to access. Exclusive content would be automatically dripped to clients in a secure members area over a 4-week period. As it was this Personal Trainer’s first online program, it was critical to make the setup as easy as possible for her to execute. The program generated a new source of income and provided an opportunity to help more clients outside the local community with this challenge.
Financial Services Membership
Annual Program
A Financial Services firm based in Queensland launched their first online program offering valuable education to clients. This featured monthly webinars, that were delivered live, with the members area being used to restrict replay access to paying clients only. The program was structured to allow clients to sign up for the entire year, or individual monthly topics. Depending on what the client purchased, the system will automatically make sure they only had access to the material that they had paid for. If a client buys a single course or topic, the system will acknowledge this and show what they are missing. It will provide a link to purchase the full program for complete access. The program helped the business add value to existing clients and generate extra income from clients who may not be suitable for one-on-one work.

Digital Marketing Agency Membership Example
Free, Paid Courses & Ongoing Membership
As a Digital Marketing Agency, we have produced a large amount of content over the years that we wanted to limit access to certain content to particular people on our list. We have used this strategy to grow our database by giving access to free gated content (mainly videos) through our member portal. Also, paid online courses that allow us to serve more clients who want to do it themselves with some video instructions and other resources. Finally, we also use our membership site to host webinar replays and other resources for our ongoing Keap membership. Our easy-to-use membership platform with unlimited storage that we selected, has been crucial in delivering over 200 videos created for our various programs.
Education Business Membership
Paid Courses
An international online educator offered multiple paid courses that students can join anytime and their signature annual membership that they only open once per year. The membership site grants automatic access to course students based on their specific purchases and tracks their progress accordingly. Finally, their main program provided the ease of housing all high-level types of content, including videos, checklists, guides, audio and links to resources. This business has expanded its reach and boosted its database, revenue, and overall growth by providing online programs.
Publication Membership
Restricted Member Website Content
A national Australian publication used a membership model to determine and provide access to restricted website content for paid users only. Non-members could preview a small portion of premium content but would be given the opportunity to subscribe should they not be a member yet. Customers had the ability to sign up for a specific membership level that included single or multiple users. Payment options were annual and monthly subscriptions with payment being accepted automatically by credit card, direct debit and invoice. The member portal should allow admin users to access their tax invoices and manage access for their team members, including the ability to add or remove access as needed. The setup involved more tasks, but by assessing the system requirements, the business was able to gain more internal control, cut administrative costs, and improve user experience.
