Have you ever gone to a website homepage and thought, what the heck do these people do?!?!
I know I have.
And well actually… you may have thought the same about our website too!
I got a pretty big take away recently that I wanted to share in the hope that it can help you refine the messaging in your business.
According to Don Miller from Story Brand, you’ve got 5 seconds to answer the following questions for someone visiting your website:
- What it is that you offer?
- How will it make my life better?
- What do I need to do to buy?
Our website didn’t answer those questions (particularly above the fold on our homepage).
This is what it was like before…
Yes, it talked to one of our target markets, which is existing Infusionsoft users…
But, not everyone coming to our site knows what Infusionsoft is!
Also, judging from the fact we had this offer up for a few months with minimal sign ups, we knew we needed to make a change.
By getting my head around the questions above, it dawned on me…
Some people that visit our website, PLUS some that may follow us may be confused about what we do!
We’ve updated our homepage to start addressing these questions.
This is what it looks like at the time of writing this post.
Is it perfect?
But it’s closer and clearer than what it was when we first started.
Look, this article isn’t about us, it’s about you!
